What’s the difference between DDR4 and other types of memory and can I use them interchangeably?
No, DDR4 memory is not compatible or interchangeable with other types such as DDR5, DDR3, and so on. Each memory type uses different slot designs, voltages, and architectures, so your system must support the memory type specifically.
Can I mix ECC Load Reduced (LRDIMM) modules with other ECC types?
No, you cannot mix ECC Load Reduced with ECC Registered (RDIMM), ECC Unbuffered (ECC UDIMM), or Non-ECC Unbuffered (Non-ECC UDIMM) modules. All installed memory modules must be the same ECC type or your system will fail to boot.
What ECC type does my system need and which slots should I use?
