Fun ways to use these watercolors:
Wet-On-Wet
To achieve smooth gradients and seamless color transitions, paint with a wet-on-wet technique! Start by wetting your paper with clean water, then add in a little bit of watercolor. As it dries, the water will do the work for you as the colors blend without harsh edges. This is a great way to get a soft look in your paintings.
Wet-On-Dry
For more control over your paint, you can try a wet-on-dry technique! First, load up a brush with watercolor (diluted to your preference) and apply it to dry watercolor paper. A wetter brush will result in a smooth, consistent look, and a dryer brush will allow some of the texture from the watercolor paper to come through.
Color Lift
You can soften or remove unwanted color by carefully lifting it from your watercolor paper. Make sure the color you want to remove is wet. Then, apply a clean piece of paper towel or a slightly damp brush to the paper to absorb the water and pigment. This is a great way to correct mistakes or lighten areas that have gotten too dark.
Splatter
Have fun, get a bit messy, and achieve instant artistic results with a bit of splatter! Load up a watercolor brush with wet, diluted paint, then tap firmly towards the tip of the brush to spray little drops of color. The result is unpredictable, yet can be controlled with practice. Vary the distance from the paper to change the size and spread of the droplets.
