I was out hiking in Morgan Monroe State Forest with my girlfriend. One afternoon, It was a nice day and the insects and birds were chirping away. Out of nowhere, the pair of us heard what sounded like three gunshots one after another. They went off not too far down the trail and we looked at each other for a few seconds of silence.

So near where I live but a little farther out in the sticks there’s a glorified gravel path in the woods called rube hill. It runs maybe three miles long and only half a mile of it’s paved. The south end is the pavement with a few old, but otherwise normal houses dotted around it.
